Samhain Recipes: Oils

For candles and altars, the following recipes can be used for your Samhain celebration or for specific activities during Samhain (such as to help divination).

Recipe 1
1oz base olive oil
4 drops Pine Oil
2 drops Frankincense oil
2 drops Patchouli oil
2 drops Lavender oil

Recipe 2 
3 drops Cedarwood
3 drops clove
3 drops frankincense
3 drops patchouli
3 drops rosemary

Recipe 3
3 drops Rosemary
3 drops Pine
3 drops Bay
3 drops Apple
2 drops Patchouli

The following oil is a special preparation for use during scrying, tarot reading, any divination, soul-retrieval, and astral travel.

This magic oil is a wonderful psychic enhancement, and will increase prophetic dreams. It enhances your creative powers, and is a very strong protective formula to use during rituals. You would use this to anoint yourself after ritual bathing, and it can also be used to anoint candles for Samhain. This is a subtle scent, but very powerful, it is used sparingly. Save any remainder for your next full moon ritual and tool blessing.

Create during the new moon before Samhain and also on Samhain, when the veil between the worlds of the physical and spiritual is most thin.

Sixth Sense Magical Oil:

2 oz base almond oil
1 teaspoon each of powder, or 2 drops each of essential oil (add oils last):

Lemongrass, mugwort, eye-bright, rue, mistletoe, jasmine flowers, mullien, wormwood, yarrow, bay, mace, star-anise, mistletoe, Solomon's seal, cinque-foil

Put powders in cheesecloth tied with a black string. Steep in the base oil for 3-5 day, left on an east window in sunlight. Squeeze to strain oil from cheesecloth, add other essential oils now. Shake he container and let it sit overnight outside. The preparation is ready for use.

For the following oils: Add these essential oils to 1/8 cup of a base oil (almond or olive oil). Visualize as you mix and smell.  For best results, don't use synthetics

Psychic Oil:

5 drops Lemongrass
1 drop Yarrow

Wear to increase psychic powers, especially when working with rune stones, quartz crystal spheres and other such tools.

Visions Oil

4 drops Lemongrass
2 drops Bay
1 drop Nutmeg

Anoint the forehead to produce psychic awareness

Other ideas: Here are some examples that what can be used for specific work during Samhain (or at any other time during the year). If you are not comfortable mixing oils together, just go with the ones I have mentioned before. If you would like to try to mix your own oils, then go smoothly with the drops you will put and with the different oil as some have a very strong smell and, if you put too much of that specific oil, you might feel a little discomfort, which will not be useful or practical for your magickal work.
